Mapletree Industrial Trust (“MIT”) has successfully bid and won a Request for Proposal from Kulicke & Soffa (“K&S”) to build its new global headquarters which will be located in Singapore.
On 16 May 2012, K&S - one of the world's leading suppliers of semiconductor assembly equipment, tools and materials - held a groundbreaking ceremony to start the construction of its new headquarters.
The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Mr Tan Choon Shian, Deputy Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board, who was the guest-of-honour. Other VIPs included Mr MacDonell Roehm Jr, Chairman of the Board of K&S and Mr Bruno Guilmart, President & Chief Executive Officer of K&S and Mr Heah Soon Poh, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of JTC Corporation.
The $50 million dollar project is located just a stone’s throw away from K&S’s current office at 6 Serangoon North and comprises a five-storey, high specification light industrial building with a gross floor area of about 30,800 square metres.
Located within the established industrial estate in the North-East region of Singapore and close to mature housing estates, K&S’s new headquarters is easily accessible via major expressways and well-connected by public transportation network.

The facility is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013. K&S will occupy 69% of the net lettable area for a 10-year lease term. The remaining spaces will be made available for lease.
